The Bastard kamado must be placed on a base from The Bastard or, in the case of a Solo kamado, on a piece of furniture that complies with The Bastard's instructions. A Solo should only be placed on a metal base or built-in table, on a sufficiently fire-resistant, sturdy barrier such as a 5 cm thick concrete tile, metal table stand, or metal table nest. For placement on a metal top in a wooden table, there must be a layer of air between the metal and wooden surface due to heat conduction and wood combustion.
